Here are some helpful guidelines to a low
maintenance sprinkler system:
Winter
1. All spray zones normally need 5 to 8 minutes in the winter for 1-2 days per week.
2. All rotor zones normally need 15 to 20 minutes in the winter for 1-2 days per week.
3. The Pressure Vacuum Breaker should be insulated to protect it from a hard freeze.
4. Additional protection can be achieved by wrapping a towel over the bell shaped assembly and taping it securely.
5. To prepare for a hard freeze one may choose to close the isolation ball valve to the off position (this isolation valve is normally located a couple of feet from the water meter box in a green valve box). After the isolation valve is closed, one should go to the controller and turn the system on. This action will drain the water out of the Pressure Vacuum Breaker.
6. After a hard freeze, it is good to open up the isolation valve and run the system.
Spring
1. All spray zones normally need 10 to 12 minutes in the spring for 2-3 days per week.
2. All rotor zones normally need 20 to 25 minutes in the spring for 2-3 days per week.
3. It is a good idea to run a test of the system and inspect it for leaks, adjustments or zones not turning on or off.
4. After you have inspected the system, you may need to call us out for a service call.
Summer
1. All spray zones normally need 12 to 15 minutes in the summer for 3-5 days per week.
2. All rotor zones normally need 25 to 30 minutes in the summer for 3-5 days per week.
Fall
1. All spray zones normally need 10 to 12 minutes in the fall for 2-3 days per week.
2. All rotor zones normally need 20 to 25 minutes in the fall for 2-3 days per week.
General Information
1. If your sprinkler system will not operate, there are a couple of things to check. First, check the controller to make sure you have power. Second, check the Pressure Vacuum Breaker to make sure that it is in the open position (The handles are to be parallel to the pipe that are mounted on the Pressure Vacuum Breaker). Third, check the isolation valve (located a couple of feet from the water meter box) to see if the isolation valve is open. Fourth, check to see if you have a rain sensor that may be preventing your system from operating. Fifth, if you have not solved your problem after these steps you may need to call to schedule a service checkup.
2. General adjustments are not covered in the warranty. The sprinkler system may need general adjustments annually. The sprinkler system warranty does not cover acts of God such as freeze damage or third party damage.
